Citizen Control Program
Network of Probono Lawyers

The growing social demand for environmental protection and the absence of public policies to satisfy these requests, has turned FARN into a referent to which those who feel threatened their right to a clean and healthy environment appeal. Thus FARN needs now to count on other social actors qualified to deal with and widen up the bases of access to justice in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA)

A way to achieve this goal would be through the strengthening of a Network of Pro Bono Lawyers, specialized in environmetal matters. These professionals would respond to consultations and take charge of the accusations on environmetal problems which affect the AMBA and could become leading cases

The neccessity of this Net to be formed by specialized lawyers, rests in the complexity of the environmental issues and its linkage to economic interests. These conditions require of people highly identified with the defense of public interests

General objectives:

  • Strengthening of the access to justice regarding the environmental issue in the AMBA.
  • Assistance to the advisory demands and the judicial presentations received by the Program.
  • Creation of a group of juridical operators to develop the judicial actions (at present in the hands of the lawyers of the Program.)
