Access Initiative and Citizen Participation
General and particular objectives
General aims:
To assess the level of implementation of the Access Principle in
Argentina at a Federal level (undertaken by FARN), in the province of
Cordoba (undertaken by CEDHA) and in the province of Buenos Aires (undertaken
by AMEAI).
To strengthen a network of civil society organizations in Argentina
to promote the implementation of access to information, participation
and justice.
To encourage public participation in the sustainable development
agenda.
To disseminate the results to both public authorities and civil society
in order to stimulate dialogue and to identify specific areas, thus
improving implementation of systems and processes that protect and promote
the exercise of rights of access.
Particular
aims:
To develop indicators to assess public participation in Argentina,
based on the methodological framework of The
Access Initiative (TAI), while considering local circumstances.
2. To formulate policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the
institutional frameworks and practices of public participation in matters
of environmental and sustainable development in the respective jurisdictions.
To create a website to facilitate communication and the dissemination
of information on public participation in Argentina as well as the results
achieved by the Initiative. The site will be part of the overall FARN
website.
To create an Electronic Newsletter to provide information on legal
and policy developments regarding public participation, brief case studies
on public participation, and other relevant information. The newsletter
will contribute to creating and maintaining a network of institutions
and individuals involved in issues of public participation
