Authorities at national and provincial level and of the Autonomous City
of Buenos Aires, face the challenge of regulating the laws of minimum
standards on environmental protection, adapting the existing legislation
to them, sanctioning complementary regulations and coordinating its implementation.
Obviously, civil society can in no way assume a passive role in this fundamental
process for Argentine environmental policy. That is why FARN, together with the Centre for Environmental Law of the IUCN, has since the end of 2002 been organizing a series of workshops involving the most relevant sectors in the preparation of proposals regarding the regulation of minimum standards on environmental protection. The workshops were held under the auspices of the Department of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation and the Committee of Environmental Studies of the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI).
