She specialized in mediation and other techniques of conflict resolution
both in Argentina and in the United States, and gave Seminars on Negotiation
at Harvard University Law School, among others. She was a certified mediator
for the Ministry of Justice of the Nation, co-director of the Neighborhood
Mediation Center in Belgrano and a member of the Commission of Mediation
of the College of Lawyers of the City of Buenos Aires. She was co-author and co-compiler of Mediación: una transformación
en la cultura, (Editorial Paidós, 1996). She also wrote countless
articles on her speciality in professional publications and in publications
of general interest. Adriana Schiffrin was a member of the teaching team of the then Centro
Regional de Investigación y Capacitación (Regional Center
for Research and Training) - SUSTENTAR in FARN, acting as co-director
of the module on Facilitation and Mediation in conflicts on the Environment
and Development. She was a member of Consenso Ambiental - Facilitadores y Mediadores para el Desarrollo Sustentable (Environmental Consensus - Facilitators and Mediators for Sustainable Development), a group associated to FARN which, during its management, concentrated on the development of environmental mediation and negotiation as part of an alternative resolution of conflicts, a fundamental element in what has been defined as "governance for sustainability", a core subject for this Foundation.
