Program of Environmental Compliance and Enforcement in Latin America

According to the opinions of different social sectors and documents, problems related to insufficient environmental compliance and enforcement are part of the current Latin American scenario for a variety of reasons, such as the lack of legal enforceable requirements, the absence of adequate governmental coordination between the different levels of government and within the bureaucratic structure, the lack of efficient environmental enforcement mechanisms, the lack of sufficient access by the community to information and participation in the decision-making process, and the absence of adequate incentives to encourage environmental compliance.

This program aims at building knowledge and sharing experiences in order to bring about a positive change in this reality.
