Document by María Eugenia Di Paola, FARN
|
The e-dialogue which took place from August 11-29, 2003, had the objective
to analyze Latin America judges and prosecutors' role, regarding environmental
enforcement and compliance, considering the difficulties that judges and
prosecutors have to face, and the positive and negative experiences from
various countries.
The conclusions of the e-dialogue do not only have an important value
per se, based in the exchange of opinions and experiences of judges, prosecutors,
civil society, Academia and governmental sector, but also contributed
to the agenda of the Symposium of
Judges and Prosecutors in Latin America - Environmental Compliance and
Enforcement, that was carried out on September 23rd and 24th in the
City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The conclusions of this document were made possible thanks to the extremely
constructive and fruitful comments and contributions of its participants.
I would like to extend my recognition to the work team with which we are
organizing this activity, in a collaborative effort of FARN and the World
Bank Institute.
