Information and Publications Area

The future of our environment requires all citizens and social actors to play an active role. The complexity of the cultural, social, scientific, economic and technological variables that govern the effective formulation of public, normative and day-to-day management policies by government authorities requires the presence and participation of the whole community.

However, appropriate, productive and effective participation cannot exist without information on the environment, and the affect each human activity may have on it. In this sense, a large number of international political recognitions claim that in order to guarantee active community participation, it is first necessary to ensure appropriate environmental information.

This Area was created to assist in research and training activities through its Environmental Law Information Center, and the various different FARN programs and projects. There is a specialized library that compiles, systematizes and disseminates information on environmental law and policy.
