EXPERTS ON ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL LAW QUESTIONED NUCLEAR ENERGY AGREEMENT WITH AUSTRALIA

FARN's Environmental Citizen Control Program, as one of its activities, called to an attorneys' meeting, and attended this event the constitutionalists Daniel Sabsay (FARN's Executive Director), Antonio Hernández (Argentine Constitutional Law Association's President); the public prosecutors Hugo Cañon (Bahía Blanca) and Eduardo Freiler (Buenos Aires); Dr Ricardo Moner Sans and many attorneys specialized in environmental law, the doctors Martín Prieto (Greenpeace), Diego Kravetz (FARN), José Esain (AMEAI), Jorge Daneri, and Gabriel Jarque.

The meeting aimed to analyze the legal alternatives to follow before the possible confirmation from the Chamber of Deputies of the nuclear energy cooperation agreement with Australia.

Before the possible approval of this agreement in the Congress, which was declared unconstitutional because of violating the article 41 of the National Constitution, attorneys, public prosecutors and constitutionalists noticed on the legal impediments the entering of radioactive wastes to the country would have. Due to this alarming situation, the prestigious experts in law focused on the legal steps to follow in case the agreement is confirmed.

UPDATING COURSES IN THE SAN MARTÍN JUDGES ASSOCIATION

In the framework of an agreement signed between San Martín Judges Association and Environmental and Natural Resources Foundation (FARN), an updating module for judges and members of the Judicial Branch is being carried out successfully at the association, during October and November.

The module is in charge of FARN's attorneys specialized in Environmental Law, and in this module it is studied and analyzed the problematic on environmental matters, but it specially deals with Access to Justice, taking into account the target people of the proposal.

This updating course is part of the training activities of FARN's Environmental Citizen Control Program, and new courses are already planned for next year, and they will include different legal associations from the provinces.

Last Wednesday, 30th October, 8pm, the music equipment that belonged to the "The Glam, Bar & Resto", in Palermo Hollywood, district of Buenos Aires, was retained because the owners did not fulfil with the legal measures that were presented in an injunction relief by a neighbour, with the free legal sponsorship of the Environmental Citizen Control Program.
