Trade and Sustainable Development Area
Production and sustainable trade
In order to impel initiatives that inter interrelate the productive and
trade activities with the environmental aspects in a sustainable development
framework, our Area has dealt with the following issues:
Sustainable Agricultural Development
Our goal is to promote the research and discussion of a sustainable agricultural
pattern in which they converge a strengthened State -which defines
and implements public policies in short, medium and long time deadlines
and that apply the regulation in force-, a responsible agro industrial
productive chain -which promotes a proactive conduct regarding a social
and environmental sustainable behaviour-, an academic sector -which
provides the framework or scientific living- and an informed and compromised
community demanding that behaviour.
Our activity has been channelled through the formulation of different
research proposals. In the local area, we have proposed the investigation
and analyses of the legal and institutional frameworks that fit in the
phenomenon of the agricultural border expansion in Argentina. In the meantime,
at a regional level and together with other not governmental organizations
we have presented the need to evaluate the impact of the soy productive
chain for our countries and for the region.
Clean Production and Sustainable Consumption
Regarding this issue, the objective has been the promotion of actions
tending to modify the present patterns of production and consumption,
because they represent a serious threat for the environment and for the
quality of life. The activities have been oriented, on the one hand, towards
the formulation of a project proposal that prompts the construction and
definition of a strategy of responsible consumption in our country; and
on the other hand, towards an effective participation in the Advisory
Counsel of the Clean
Production and Sustainable Consumption Unit created in the ambit of
the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation.
