Trade and integration

In order to contribute with elements and tools that promote the sustainable commercial policies and trade negotiations that glimpse not a mere economic growth but a true sustainable development, the Area have faced the following actions:

1. Periodic monitoring of the different settings of international negotiation, and also an active participation in different spaces of debate that refer to the sustainable development of the international trade agreements.
   
   
2. Active participation in different national and regional ambits created to favour the involvement of civil society, among them:
   • Civil Society Advisory Board - MRECyC
     
   • Economic and Social Consultative Forum of Mercosur (FCES)
     
   • Mercosur Working Sub-Group Nº 6, National Section
   • The Zapallar Group
     
   
   
3. 2. Research and Promotion of intersectorial discussion spaces about planning tools, as for example, the initiatives developed regarding Assessments of Sustainability.

Our next steps are: (a) the study in depth of the already carried out actions, continuing and spreading our incidence work in the spaces of citizen participation; (b) the diffusion of the planning tools or other instruments that allow the improvement of the decision-taking process of the negotiators; and (c) the promotion of initiatives that allow the inclusion of new issues that at present do not occupy a relevant place in the national and regional agenda, as for example the discussion of the links between trade, investment and environment.
